Utilities and services.

What utilities you’re responsible for, how to set them up, and what to know about services in the Walla Walla area.

Which utilities am I responsible for?

This varies by property, and your lease specifies exactly what you pay. In most cases, residents are responsible for:

  • Electricity: Pacific Power — (888) 890-8222
  • Natural gas: Cascade Natural Gas — (888) 522-3788
  • Water/sewer: City of Walla Walla — (509) 527-0611 (some properties include water in rent)
  • Trash: Basin Disposal — (509) 547-2476 (some properties include trash in rent)
  • Internet/cable: Your choice of provider (see below)

Check your lease or ask your property manager to confirm which utilities are included in your rent.

When do I need to set up utilities?

All utilities must be transferred to your name by your move-in date. Contact each utility provider at least 3–5 business days before move-in to schedule the transfer. If utilities are not active on move-in day, you may not be able to receive your keys.

When you call, you’ll need your new address, desired start date, and personal identification. Some providers may require a deposit for new accounts.

What about internet and cable?

Internet and cable are your responsibility and your choice of provider. Options in the Walla Walla area include:

  • Charter Spectrum: Cable internet and TV
  • CenturyLink: DSL and fiber internet
  • Starlink: Satellite internet (requires landlord approval for dish installation)

Contact providers directly for availability at your specific address. If installation requires any exterior modifications (drilling, dish mounting), you must get written approval from our office first.

How does trash and recycling work?

Most properties in Walla Walla use Basin Disposal for trash pickup. Service varies by location:

  • Single-family homes: You typically set up your own trash account. Bins are provided by the service provider.
  • Multi-family properties: Shared dumpsters are usually provided and trash may be included in your rent.

Pickup is generally once a week. Recycling pickup is available in most areas. Your welcome packet includes the pickup schedule for your address. Do not leave trash outside of bins or scheduled pickup times.

What about lawn care and snow removal?

For single-family homes, the resident is typically responsible for basic yard maintenance (mowing, weeding, watering) and snow/ice removal on walkways and driveways. Your lease specifies your landscaping responsibilities. For multi-family properties, common area maintenance is handled by the property management team.

If you have questions about what’s expected for your specific property, contact your property manager.
